ACE and DAZN shut down major Spanish live streaming piracy site
The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) and sports streaming service DAZN have shut down one of Spain’s largest live streaming piracy sites. The unnamed platform illegally provided access to premium sports broadcasts, including major football leagues and events, attracting millions of viewers who avoided paying for legitimate subscriptions.
The enforcement action followed a joint investigation involving ACE, DAZN, and Spanish authorities, who identified the operators and infrastructure behind the site. The platform relied on illegal redistribution of broadcast feeds and generated revenue through ads and paid access to premium streams.
ACE and DAZN stated that the shutdown represents a significant victory against organized piracy groups that damage the sports and entertainment industries by reducing subscription income and devaluing media rights agreements. They emphasized that piracy undermines investment in professional sports, content production, and athlete development.
Investigators noted that the platform’s operators may face legal consequences, including civil or criminal action. The shutdown is part of a broader strategy targeting large-scale piracy networks across Europe, with more operations expected as authorities intensify enforcement.
The case highlights increasing cooperation between rights holders, streaming platforms, and international anti-piracy organizations in combating illegal live sports streaming.
