ACE in MENA antipiracy takedown
In January 2024, the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) achieved a significant victory against content piracy in the Middle East-North Africa (MENA) region by shutting down Cima4U, an illegal streaming service based in Giza, Egypt. Cima4U operated 498 domains, offering a vast library of over 165,000 movies and TV series in Arabic and original languages, attracting more than 30 million monthly visits from 11.6 million unique users. The shutdown was facilitated by the Egyptian police, with ACE members MBC GROUP and OSN expressing support for the action, emphasizing the importance of combating piracy to protect creative content and ensure fair compensation for artists.
