ACE Shuts Down Popular Pirate Sites, 27+ ‘Instant Pirate Sites’ Fall Over
In January 2024, the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), in collaboration with Thailand’s leading pay-TV provider TrueVisions, announced the shutdown of several popular pirate streaming sites, including uhuseries.com, owlserieshd.com, and ahaseries.com. These platforms, active since 2019, attracted approximately 1.3 million monthly visitors, primarily from Thailand, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Additionally, ACE targeted Iamtheme.com, identified as a “Piracy-as-a-Service” (PaaS) platform that enabled individuals to create pirate sites for a fee of $225. This action led to the closure of over 27 associated pirate sites. ACE emphasized that such piracy operations not only infringe on intellectual property rights but also expose consumers to malware risks and undermine investments in the local content industry.
