AI Revenge Porn Shocker: Dibrugarh Police Arrest Man For Morphing Ex-Classmate's Photos

A man, Pratim Bora—a 30‑year‑old mechanical engineer from Tinsukia—was arrested by Dibrugarh police for creating and spreading AI‑generated pornographic content featuring his former classmate. Starting as revenge, he morphed a single photo of the woman into explicit visuals using AI tools like Midjourney, OpenArt, Desire AI, and possibly OpenAI technologies  . He posted them on Instagram and adult platforms under the alias “Babydoll Archi” (and later “Amira Ishtara”), amassing over 1.3–1.4 million followers and earning about ₹10 lakh via subscription fees and Linktree monetization  .

Police investigation began after the victim filed a complaint. They traced the fake profiles via phone data linked to Instagram, confirming the attack stemmed from a personal acquaintance during their college years (2013–2017)  . Authorities seized extensive digital evidence—including phones, laptops, SIM cards, storage devices, and financial records—and booked Bora under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for cyber harassment, defamation, obscenity, sexual harassment, and invasion of privacy  . He is currently in police custody, with courts granting a five‑day remand for further investigation  .

The incident has triggered public outrage in Assam and reignited discussions on the ethical use of AI, digital deepfake laws, and the impact of revenge porn. It demonstrates how generative AI can be weaponized to defame, exploit, and monetize victims online
