AI scams love kids — and their parents are helping
AI-powered scams are increasingly targeting children and families, using generative AI techniques (such as voice cloning and impersonation) to deceive parents and kids alike. These scams exploit trust, replicate a child’s or parent’s voice, and fabricate emergencies or urgent money demands. As detection gets harder, parents are stepping in, modelling safer online behaviour, initiating family codes/passwords, and monitoring devices more closely. The generational gap in digital literacy makes this especially dangerous—but collaborative parent-child efforts are emerging as a frontline defence.
