ATVC condemns content piracy and its threats

Argentina’s ICT, Video and Connectivity Association (ATVC) has strongly condemned content piracy platforms—like Magis TV and Flow TV—highlighting their damaging impact on investment, tax revenue, job creation, and the entire audiovisual sector. These illegal services undermine pay‑TV models, risking service quality and suppressing content provider incentives. The ATVC stresses that piracy also exposes consumers to low-quality platforms, data risks, and possible legal trouble. While court-ordered blocks can help, they are costly and may even block legitimate services, so they should be used sparingly within a solid legal framework. The association calls for a united approach involving judiciary, regulators, content providers, ISPs, and users to deploy technological protections (e.g., encrypted CDNs, watermarking) and promote responsible consumption to build a sustainable industry.
