Copyright infringement: raid in Crotone – 2,769 users identified and goods worth €650,000 seized

Italian authorities carried out a major anti piracy operation in Crotone, dismantling three illegal IPTV distribution hubs that provided unauthorized access to premium content from platforms such as Sky, DAZN, Netflix, Disney+, NOW TV, and Spotify. Investigators identified 2,769 users across 43 Italian provinces and reported four suspects accused of copyright infringement, intellectual property violations, and self laundering. Authorities seized assets worth approximately €650,000, believed to represent proceeds from the illegal operation. The investigation revealed a structured network involving main providers, resellers, and end users, with subscriptions sold for €10 to €40 per month. The operation forms part of Italy’s broader crackdown on digital piracy ahead of major sporting events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Users identified in the investigation may face fines ranging from €154 to €5,000.
