France’s top two leagues launch anti-piracy campaign
France’s top football leagues, Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, have launched a unified anti-piracy campaign urging fans to support official broadcasters. Clubs used social media to highlight the financial and sporting damage piracy causes, with Olympique Lyonnais stating that legal subscriptions directly help their future. This comes after DAZN, the Ligue 1 broadcaster, previously clashed with the French Professional League over poor subscription numbers and financial disputes, eventually settling a €35m payment. The campaign aims to ensure the long-term viability of French football broadcasting.
