Illegal Sky Sports streaming sites hit by huge police raid with two people arrested in major crackdown

UK authorities targeted an illicit Sky Sports streaming operation in early July 2025. On July 3, detectives from the City of London Police’s Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU) executed coordinated raids at two residences (in Oldbury) and a data center in Cheltenham. They seized seven servers used to stream pirated content and arrested a 30-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman. Investigators allege the duo made substantial profits through distributing unauthorized Sky Sports streams. PIPCU emphasized that such activities fund organized crime and expose users to cybersecurity threats including fraud and malware  .

 

In a separate but related crackdown, Stephen Woodward (36) from North Yorkshire—who ran three illegal IPTV services (IPTV Hosting, Helix Hosting, Black and White TV)—was sentenced to over three years in prison after pocketing around £1 million. Authorities also confiscated £1.1 million across bank and crypto accounts, plus £144,121 in cash. His brother received a suspended sentence. Officials warned that jailbroken devices like Fire Sticks and Kodi are often vehicles for piracy and malware  .
