Italy approves Reorganisation Decree for Online Gambling
Italy has approved the ‘Reorganisation Decree’ to overhaul its online gambling laws, marking the first regulatory evaluation since 2011. Key changes include a new licensing framework with a €7 million fee per online gambling license, valid for nine years, and an annual 3% operating fee on gross gaming revenue. The decree also introduces measures to combat illegal gambling, protect vulnerable players, and enforce customer restrictions based on deposit levels. Additionally, it aims to eliminate ‘skin websites’ by limiting operators to one brand per license. The government anticipates that at least 50 operators will apply for the new concessions, generating significant revenue.
