Lithuania’s €140 Piracy ‘Fines’ Will Pay Off, Lawyer Says
In an effort to combat online piracy, Lithuania has begun issuing €140 fines to individuals sharing pirated content, primarily targeting users of the private torrent tracker Linkomanija. Since the implementation of this measure, approximately 50 individuals have been fined. Local lawyer Andrius Iškauskas believes these actions will effectively reduce piracy rates. However, traffic to Linkomanija remains steady, indicating that the fines have not yet significantly deterred users. (TorrentFreak)
