La Liga streaming piracy cartel busted in Argentina

In a coordinated crackdown led by La Liga and the anti-piracy group ALIANZA, authorities executed five simultaneous raids and issued multiple arrest warrants targeting a major illegal IPTV operation in Argentina. The action spanned the provinces of Chubut, Mendoza, and Río Negro, with support from the Argentine Federal Police and local forces, alongside private-sector collaborators Mercado Libre and Mercado Pago

One of the main targets was UV Mundo Digital, an internet service provider in Trelew and Rawson accused of selling devices and subscriptions to MagisTV Pro, a pirated streaming platform marketed as legitimate. Law enforcement seized digital evidence including IP logs, bank records, and messaging app data. Four key individuals linked to the MagisTV operation were arrested, reportedly handling payments exceeding 160 million Argentine pesos via platforms like Mercado Pago, Naranja X, and Binance.

This operation is part of a broader, years‑long international anti-piracy campaign by La Liga and ALIANZA across Latin America. Ongoing tactics include dynamic DNS and IP blocking, court orders to remove MagisTV and FlujoTV APKs from Google platforms, and creating Argentina’s first anti-piracy “War Room” to unite legal, technical, and industry stakeholders.

La Liga emphasized that piracy platforms like MagisTV pose serious cybersecurity risks to users, including exposure to malware, personal data theft, and scams. The broader aim is to safeguard intellectual property, support legal access to content, and sustain the sports and audiovisual ecosystem in the region.
