Match-fixing allegations cloud pool title sprint
Uganda’s Nile Special Men’s Pool League is under scrutiny following allegations of match-fixing. With around ten games left, top teams Roxberry, Upper Volta, and Scrap Buyers are in a tight title race. However, suspicions have arisen after Upper Volta, a team closely linked to the Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) leadership, secured back-to-back 18-2 victories against Kireka and Capital Night. These wins, which included bonus points, significantly closed the title gap, sparking concerns about match manipulation. PAU tournament director Donald Ampumuza acknowledged the allegations and confirmed that an investigation is underway.
