Motion Picture Association Statement on USTR’s 2024 Notorious Markets List
On January 8, 2025, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) released its 2024 Review of Notorious Markets for Counterfeiting and Piracy. Motion Picture Association (MPA) Chairman and CEO Charles Rivkin commended the USTR and its interagency partners for their dedication to protecting the creative industry and combating digital piracy. Rivkin highlighted the inclusion of over 15 significant offenders identified by the MPA in the list and acknowledged the successful takedown of Fmovies in Vietnam by the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), once the world’s largest piracy network. He emphasized the importance of upholding copyright laws in the face of rapidly evolving technologies and reaffirmed the MPA’s commitment to defending the intellectual property rights of creators in film and television.
