MovieBox Site Shut Down by Authorities: Dozens of Clones Appear
Nigerian authorities have shut down MovieBox.ng, a widely-used movie streaming site that logged over 130 million visits in just three months. The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), executed the takedown. However, despite the shutdown, dozens of clone sites have rapidly emerged—highlighting a persistent challenge for anti‑piracy enforcement and the ease with which illicit content systems can be replicated.
