Nintendo sues streamer who said he could broadcast its pirated games "all day"

Nintendo has filed a lawsuit against streamer Jesse Keighin, known online as Every Game Guru, for allegedly streaming ten unreleased Nintendo games, including “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom” and “Mario & Luigi: Brothership,” over the past decade. The lawsuit claims Keighin not only broadcast these pirated games but also instructed viewers on how to obtain them using circumvention devices. When Nintendo issued takedown notices on platforms like YouTube and Twitch, Keighin reportedly responded defiantly, stating he “could do this all day” and had “a thousand burner accounts.” Nintendo asserts that Keighin’s actions have resulted in millions of dollars in lost sales and is seeking $15,000 for each alleged copyright violation, $2,500 for each contravention of anti-circumvention provisions, and additional damages to be determined at trial. The company emphasizes that streaming leaked games before their official release normalizes and encourages pre-release piracy, harming both Nintendo and its customers.
