Sky TV catch 'rare' illegal streamer as Birmingham family man unmasked
Gary McNally, a 56-year-old from Acocks Green, Birmingham, was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison for operating an illegal streaming service from his home. Between November 2017 and September 2021, McNally provided unauthorized access to Sky TV content, including Premier League football matches and pay-per-view boxing events, to up to 2,000 users at its peak. He utilized a £420-a-month ‘office-grade’ broadband connection to ‘harvest’ and distribute the content. Sky TV’s investigation led to his arrest in September 2021, during which multiple devices were seized from his residence. This case underscores the significant legal consequences of engaging in illegal streaming activities.
