Television Forum to look at how vulnerable can be protected from internet shift
The UK government has established a new Television Forum to address the challenges faced by vulnerable audiences amid the transition from traditional broadcast to internet-based television. Media Minister Stephanie Peacock announced that the forum will provide guidance on the future of UK broadcasting, focusing on ensuring that all viewers, especially those who are older or less affluent, continue to have access to television services. This initiative comes in response to concerns that the shift to online platforms may marginalize segments of the population who lack the necessary digital infrastructure or skills. The forum aims to develop strategies to protect these vulnerable groups during the ongoing digital transformation of television services.
