Urgent warning over illegal Premier League streaming that’s scamming people out of £1,680 this Christmas
UK tech and consumer news reports that Brits are being warned about the financial and cybersecurity risks of illegal Premier League streaming, especially during the festive season. Anti-piracy group BeStreamWise says many people go to unlicensed apps or modified streaming devices (like “dodgy” Fire Sticks) to watch football and other premium content without paying, but such services often lead to fraud, malware, data theft, and an average loss of about £1,680 per victim. A poll found a significant portion of people are willing to use unofficial sources without fully appreciating the dangers to personal information. Experts urge fans to avoid illegal streams and use legal, secure services, while companies such as Amazon are actively blocking pirated apps on devices to protect customers and content creators.
