U.S. and Bulgaria Shut Down Three Major Piracy Websites in EU Crackdown
The report describes a joint U.S.–Bulgarian law enforcement operation that targeted and seized three major online piracy websites accused of distributing copyrighted movies, TV shows, video games and software without authorization. The domains — zamunda.net, arenabg.com and zelka.org — were among the most heavily trafficked piracy platforms in the EU and had attracted tens of millions of visits annually, causing millions of dollars in losses to rights holders. U.S. authorities executed court-ordered seizure warrants and now control the domains, replacing them with official notices warning that copyright infringement is a crime. The action was carried out with support from Bulgarian police, prosecutors, national security agencies and Europol, demonstrating international cooperation in combating large-scale online piracy and protecting intellectual property rights. Authorities emphasised that these operations disrupt illegal business models that profited from unauthorized access and advertising revenue on a massive scale.
