Visits to piracy websites have increased 12% in the past four years
According to a January 2024 report by MUSO and Kearney, visits to online piracy websites reached 141 billion in 2023, marking a 12% increase since 2019. This equates to approximately 386 million daily visits. The rise is attributed to the proliferation of streaming platforms and subscription fatigue among users. Notably, Asia averaged 34 piracy site visits per person in 2023, surpassing North America’s 26. The report suggests that media companies could view this trend as an opportunity to engage with pirate users and mitigate revenue losses. (Fast Company)
